The town of Brookline members
of Broadband Monitoring Committee are
appointed by the Brookline Board of Selectmen. They are charged with
assuring the cable franchise operators in Brookline are in compliance, at
all times, with their license agreements.

The Broadband Monitoring Committee
serves as a liaison between the residents of the town, the cable operators and the
Selectmen.

Broadband Monitoring Committee
meetings start at 7:00 P.M. and are generally held in the Brookline
Health Center, 11 Pierce Street, in the Denny Room. The meetings are
open to the public.

Management personnel from both
companies are invited, and usually attend, the Broadband Monitoring Committee meetings to
present updates and answer questions about the services they provide. Minutes are kept of
each meeting and are posted on this Web site at

and RCN support Brookline Access Television (BAT) with
financial contributions and in-kind services. The Monitoring Committee works with both BAT
an the cable operators to assure the
public access needs of Brookline are being met not only in law but in spirit.

The Broadband Monitoring Committee
Ombudsman takes complaints and comments in writing, by e-mail, or regular mail. All
comments are forwarded to those who can resolve the issues. All correspondence is kept on
file.
High Speed Internet
The provision of Internet access by
either cable company is not covered by the licensing agreements, since it does not fall
under the auspices of cable television. The Broadband Monitoring Committee does, however,
continue a dialog with both franchises to advocate that the residents of Brookline are
provided the highest quality of services in a timely and reliable manner.

What is the
Local Access?
A.
Local Access refers to the
channels operated by Brookline Access Television (BAT). If you are a
Comcast customer that means channels A-3, A-23 and A-24. If you are a
RCN customer that means channels 3, 15 and 16. Local Access
programming is produced by Brookline residents with the assistance of
BAT professional staff. Local Access programming also includes
coverage of Board of Selectmen and School Committee meetings as well

What does the Ombudsman of the Broadband Monitoring Committee do? How
do I reach the Ombudsman?

The Broadband
Monitoring Committee Ombudsman takes complaints and comments regarding
