This work will consists of installing new traffic signal equipment, traffic signal
interconnect systems, cement concrete sidewalks, wheelchair ramps, granite curbing and
other incidental work at the following intersections:
Grove Street @ Independence Drive, Beverly Road and Russett Road
Grove Street @ South Street
Grove Street @ Allandale Road
The construction hours for this project are from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM,
Monday through Thursday. There will be no construction activity on Fridays unless a
holiday prevents work from being done earlier in the week. The removal and
installation of cement concrete sidewalks and granite curbing as well as the installation
of traffic signal conduit, pull boxes and pole bases will be conducted in manageable
segments. This work will take approximately 4-6 weeks. There will be an eight week
layover as the signal equipment is ordered and installed. The installation of the
new signal equipment will take approximately 6 days.
Public safety is of the utmost importance to the Engineering Division.
During construction hours we will have adequate police details, safety signage and
barrels. We will limit construction activity at the intersection of Beverly Road and
Grove Street between the hours of 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM and again between the hours of 1:30
PM and 2:30 PM in order to facilitate the drop-off and pick-up of students. Once the
sidewalks are excavated we will provide compacted ramps where the sidewalk construction
activity begins and ends and also in front of all residential entrances.
This work is expected to be completed by December 2006
