This work consists of the reconstruction of the following five
streets:
- Amory Street from Beacon St. to Freeman
Street
- University Road, the entire length
- Griggs Terrace, the entire length
- Welland Road, from Stanton Road to Tappan
Street
- Dunster Road, from Boylston Street to the
Newton Town Line
While all of these streets will be reconstructed this
summer, we plan to do Welland Road between July 3 and September 1
since this street abuts the High School.
Generally, the work on these streets will include the following:
- Remove and replace the sidewalks and driveway aprons with concrete.
- Install new granite curb and reset existing granite curb as
necessary.
- Pulverize the existing roadway to a depth of thirteen inches.
- Grade and compact the pulverized material removing all excess material.
- Place a total of four and a half inches of bituminous concrete
pavement.
- Place loam, seed, fertilizer and grass seed in the tree lawn areas.
- Install new sign posts.
- Apply pavement markings. (i.e. lane lines and crosswalk lines)
The working hours for this work will be from 7:30 AM
to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Notices regarding times of paving will be delivered to
abutters at least one day in advance of the work. It should be
noted that weather can (and will) play a factor in the scheduling of
this work.
