Insurance and Tax Deferred Benefits

Health Insurance
The Town of Brookline offers to its employees two health insurance plans. BCBS Blue Choice and BCBS HMO Blue. The Town pays 75% of the health insurance premium. Click here for current health insurance rates.

Life Insurance

The Town offers an optional $5,000 term life insurance policy. The Town contributes 75% of the premium. The Town offers an optional $5,000 term life insurance policy. The Town contributes 75% of the premium.

 

Other Optional Benefits

Premium Conversion Plan
– under this plan, an employee’s health/life insurance premiums are deducted on a pre-tax basis.


Flexible Spending Account Plan – A Flexible Spending Account Plan can help pay for medical and/or dependent care expenses by letting you pay for these expenses with pre-tax dollars.

Employee Assistance Program – Town employees, their spouses, and their dependent children are eligible for this confidential counseling and referral service, provided by the Wellness Corporation. Professional counselors are available for up to five sessions per problem, per calendar year. School department employees who are covered by the teachers contract are eligible for these services.
