The Town of Brookline is seeking an enthusiastic lead teacher for its successful early childhood education program. Starting salary $15.49/hour. Candidates must have the following:

• Current standard first aid and CPR certification
• H.S. diploma or equivalent;
• Must have completed a three-credit course in Child Growth and Development
• 9 months work experience with preschool aged children of all abilities in a paid or volunteer position
• Strong leadership skills
• Valid drivers license

Economic Development Director

Full Time

Under the policy direction of the Economic Development Advisory Board, perform highly responsible advocacy work in economic development for the Town of Brookline. Prepare and implement commercial development plans, provide advice to state and local officials; oversee Town support for local businesses; seek grants; guide and recruit commercial developers; and develop a comprehensive strategy for economic development with a focus on attracting appropriate, well designed projects that enhance the Town’s tax base.

Masters in business/public administration, economics, marketing, finance or urban planning plus five years professional experience in public and/or private economic development. Salary $80K - $90K or as commensurate with experience.

Lead Teacher-Infant Toddler

Full Time

Ensure safety and quality of the early childhood program for all participants and demonstrate enthusiasm when working with the children. Starting salary $15.49/hour plus generous benefits.
• Must be 21 years of age or have a high school diploma and; must have completed a three-credit course in Child Growth and Development
• 9 months work experience with Infant / Toddler aged children of all abilities in a paid or volunteer position
• Must have a Department of Early Education and Care / Office of Child Care Services Group Child Care Certificate, OR transcript and verification of experience
• Strong leadership skills, sensitive to needs and responsibilities
• Current standard first aid and CPR certification
• Valid drivers license
• CORI / SORI Background check
• Evidence of a physical examination within one year prior to employment
• Evidence of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella
• Negative Mantoux TB test

Early Childhood Program Director

Full Time

The Soule Early Childhood Center, operated through the Brookline Recreation Department is seeking an experienced early care and education leader to serve as the Director. Located in Brookline at the Soule Recreation Center, the Early Childhood Center is housed in an attractive space with large indoor/outdoor play areas, and enrolls approximately 45 children, 12 months through preschool age. The position of Director would begin in Sept. 2008.

Interested candidates should have a minimum of a BA or BS in early childhood education or related field. Five years experience as a center director in a supervisory role and EEC Director I or II qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. Excellent administrative, communication and interpersonal skills are required. We are looking for a leader with confidence, compassion, and professional development expertise. The ideal candidate will provide mentoring, leadership and supervision for teaching staff; possess a solid background in early childhood education and child development; oversee daily operations; manage and monitor budget, payroll and EEC licensing; develop and evaluate classroom curriculum. Salary $55K plus generous benefits.

Recreation Leader-Assistant Aquatics Director

Full Time

The aquatics program in the Department of Recreation is seeking a recreation leader to perform program delivery work in the aquatic center. Bachelor’s Degree in leisure services, physical education, or a related field; three to five years of aquatic experience; experience in program development and delivery; supervisory experience desirable; or an equivalent combination. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Certified Pool Operator and Aquatic Facility Operator Certification must be acquired within a reasonable period after employment. Starting salary $23.27/hour plus generous benefits.
