CDBG
The CDBG program serves 14-21 year old Brookline residents. Public sector placements are made in many Town Departments and/or Agencies. The CDBG Youth Employment Program is completely funded through HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocation. Complete Federal funding requires that all the participants meet low to moderate income guidelines. Income verification is required. Working papers are required for 14 and 15 year old applicants. Educational certificates are required for applicants 16 to 18 years old. Health certificates are required for applicants 16 and over. Due to the limited number of positions, jobs may be limited to one child per family. For more information, please call Carrie Weatherhead, LCSW at 617-713-5154.

"Shovel Our Snow"
The Brookline Recreation Department is pleased to sponsor a program that provides residents of Brookline with the names of young people who are willing to shovel snow this winter. "Shovel Our Snow" (S.O.S.) is strictly a referral program that connects residents who need their walks and driveways shoveled with young people who are looking for extra money over the winter. It is the responsibility of the youngster and/or the youngster’s parent or guardian to negotiate an appropriate fee with the resident seeking snow shoveling services. For more information call 617-739-7590.

Babysitting Referral Service
The Brookline Recreation Department offers a "Babysitting Referral" program that provides the names of baby-sitters to the residents of Brookline. This service is strictly a referral program, sponsored by the Brookline Recreation Department. The program connects residents who are in need of a babysitter with those individuals who have completed a recognized American Red Cross Babysitting Course. It is the responsibility of the babysitter and/or their parent or guardian to negotiate an appropriate fee with the resident seeking the babysitter. The Brookline Recreation Department does not give recommendations of any kind related to what an appropriate fee is. For more information on this program, please contact the Brookline Recreation Department at 617-730-2069. See Safety and Certification section for course offerings.
