It’s that time of the year again! As winter approaches us, it is time for ice skating at the Larz Anderson Rink to begin. The Larz Anderson Skating Rink, 23 Newton Street, Brookline will be open until Sunday, March 2, 2008 (weather permitting). This open air skating rink includes a heated skating pavilion with a snack bar, ice skate rentals and a skate sharpening shop.

Ice Skate Rental: $5 per pair
Ice Skate Sharpening: $6 per pair

Skate Sizes Available:
Child size 8 through Women size 11 and Men size 13

Skate rentals and snack bar are available. 

 

Rink rentals for private groups are available December 7, 2007 through February 24, 2008 at a cost of $200 per hour for residents and $225 per hour for non-residents. The available hours for rentals are:
Friday - 6:15 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.
Saturday - 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Saturday - 6:45 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.
Saturday - 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Saturday - 9:15 p.m. - 10:15 p.m.
Sunday - 7:15 p.m. - 8:15 p.m.
Sunday - 8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

Groups renting more than one hour on the same date will receive a $50 discount. Reservations can be made by calling Brian Bain at 617-730-2078. Helmets are mandatory for all Hockey Programs.

 


PICNIC AND WEDDING PERMITS
Picnic areas are available from April 19, 2008 through October 13, 2008. Reservations can be made for the 2008 season starting January 2, 2008.

DIRECTIONS TO LARZ ANDERSON PARK

From the West:

Take 128 to Route 9 east, towards Boston. You will eventually pass the Chestnut Hill Mall on your left side. Five or six lights after the mall, you will come to the intersection of Route 9 and Chestnut Hill Avenue and Lee Street, take a right onto Lee Street and follow to end. At the end of Lee Street, take a left onto Newton Street. Follow Newton Street for approximately ¼ mile. The road will fork, go to the left on Goddard Ave. Park is ¼ mile on the right. 

For the skating rink go to the right at the fork and the entrance will be 1/2 mile on the left.

From the East:

Take Route 9 west, towards Newton. After you pass the Brookline Reservoir on your left, take that left onto Lee Street, follow Lee St. to the end. At the light turn left onto Newton Street. Follow Newton Street for approximately ¼ mile. The road will fork, go to the left onto Goddard Avenue. Park is ¼ mile on the right.

For the skating rink go to the right at the fork and the entrance will be 1/2 mile on the left.

COMMUNITY GARDENS
Brookline's beautiful Larz Anderson Park provides over 80 community gardens approximately 30' X 15' each for veggies, flowers, herbs and healthy fun. Applicants must live in Brookline in apartments or homes with little or no gardening space. Gardens are available on a first come, first served basis and assignments may be renewed annually for current members.
