Pledge

I pledge to take 6 or more of the following
actions to help my community recycle more and waste less.

  • Paper and Cardboard. If I can rip it, I will recycle it.

  • I will recycle bottles (glass and plastic 1 –7) and metal cans.

  • I will stay informed and support the town’s environmental efforts.

  • I will Reduce, Reuse and Recycle as often as possible.

  • I will make sure my recyclables are clean of food waste and separated when I put them out.

  • I will donate useable items I no longer need to local charities and shelters.

  • I will compost my yard or food wastes.

  • I will use Brookline blue recycling bins. New bins are available at the Town Hall 4th floor or the DPW at 870 Hammond St.

  • Light bulbs, oil based paint, household and yard care chemicals and products are hazardous waste. I will check the recycling web site to see what I should do with theses items.

Recycling Winners
Our First "If You Can Rip it, You Can Recycle it" Contest Winner “ Julie Haber”

Julie has won a $25 gift certificate to Trader Joes. She has been actively recycling in her home for 20 years and thinks the recycling message should be louder and clearer. Let’s hear what Julie has to say about recycling.
“It still amazes that people will still throw out recyclables in the regular trash when the new recycling containers are right there. I occasionally will take the visible recyclables from the trash and put in the appropriate recycling bins”. Thank you Julie and congratulations.

This survey will help inform us about recycling trends in Brookline. As we apply for grants through different agencies the information from these surveys will help us to make better purchasing decisions on educating residents of Brookline.

Twice a month over the next several months we will draw one lucky winner for a Brookline community related prize. We will contact you by phone and e-mail and ask your permission to publish your name on our web site and our weekly “Recycling Corner” in the Brookline TAB. All entries are confidential and will not be used except for our survey information and this contest.
