Geographic Information System
The town-wide enterprise system is implemented successfully by the Information
Technologies Department under the direction of the GIS Steering Committee
since 1996. The operational GIS is managed by the core GIS
group, which resides in the Information Technologies Department and is responsible for GIS system
administration, major data developments, data maintenance, custom programming, project
coordination, mapping services for internal departments and the general public, user
training and user technical support. GIS is widely used by Engineering, Assessing,
Planning & Community Development, DPW, Water & Sewer, Highway, Police, Selectmen's Office,
Town Clerk's Office, Public Health, Parks and Conservation, Historic
Preservation, Schools, and others.
