LOST POND TRAILS

Status: Obtained in 1996

SOURCE/CONVERSION METHODOLOGY

The Lost Pond trail data layer was created by utilizing a global positioning system. The GPS was provided by the Mass. Department of Environmental Management and operated by Peter Brandenberg of the department’s staff. Arrangements for the GPS mapping session were made by the Friends of Lost Pond, a private conservation support organization.

The trail was mapped on January 18, 1996 by Peter Brandenberg and a party of people from the Brookline Conservation Commission, Newton Planning Department, and Friends of Lost Pond. Mr. Brandenberg processed the data and provided it to the Town of Brookline and City of Newton on a floppy disk. One trail segment was not covered by the mapping session, which will be mapped at later date.

The trail is located on the property of the Metropolitan District Commission, Brookline Conservation Commission, and Newton Conservation Commission.
