Geographic Information System

Brookline's Geographic Information System is comprised of hardware, software, network, data and trained personnel to support the capture, management, manipulation, analysis, and display of geographically referenced data for solving complex planning and management problems.
 
The town-wide system is implemented successfully by the Information Technologies Department under the direction of the GIS Steering Committee. GIS user departments include Engineering, Assessing, Planning, Water & Sewer, Police, Town Clerk, Economic Development, Health, Parks and Conservation, and Highway. GIS implementation is in progress in Building, Historic Preservation and Fire Departments.
