| Friends of Brookline Public Health- The
Friends of Brookline Public Health, a membership organization conceived to build a
constituency for public health in Brookline, is in its sixth year. The goal of 130
individual members and six corporate members was achieved in 2000.
The elected Board of Trustees consists of 18 Persons, including four officers.
The board has funded several public health initiatives including a project linking
literacy and health, a balance/fitness program for elders, and a linkage with our Sister
City in Nicaragua.
The Friends of Brookline Public Health also sponsors an annual Public Health Policy Forum, in conjunction with the
Brookline Center for Adult and Community Education. The Friends also presents an
annual Public Health Leadership Award to a member of the Brookline community.

Ethel Weiss of Irvings Toy and Card Shop- In recognition of her efforts to support
smokefree youth
Michael Dukakis- For his consistent leadership around public health issues, and
chairmanship of the public health policy forum
