ENVIRONMENTAL AND NATURE PROGRAMS
January - August 2008

The Town of Brookline Department of Recreation and Division of Parks and Open Space introduce their new Environmental Education Programs. Brookline is now offering nature based educational programs for families, adults and children that are led by the town's Environmental Educator or special guests. In addition to the public programs listed, the Environmental Educator is available for private programs such as field trips, school programs, Girl and Boy Scout badge work, and birthday parties. All programs can be tailored to fit your needs. For more information, please call Christine Dean in the Environmental Education office at 617-730-2076.

All explorers ages 2-5 are invited to discover nature through stories, crafts, activities and hikes in Brookline's parks and sanctuaries! Each class will meet at a different location in Brookline and focus on seasonal nature theme such as seeds, habitats, ponds, animal sounds, and much more. New classes are presented each season, so join us year-round! Nature Explorations aims to increase your budding naturalist's appreciation for science and the outdoors while developing his/ her skills in observation, classification, counting and investigation. This is a great opportunity to expose your child and yourself to some of the amazing natural places in Brookline. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and backpack babies are welcome to attend at no additional cost. Directions and locations will be mailed after registration is complete. In the event of severe weather, participants will be contacted and the class will meet at the Soule Recreation Center.

Mass Mammals - live opossum and skunk demonstration
Come to the special preview show from 6:15 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. geared toward children ages 4-6. For ages 7 and up, attend the presentation from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. This interactive program will give children the opportunity to "meet" local wildlife.
