Description
|
Lacrosse is currently the fastest growing sport in the United States and the fastest sport on two feet. We will be playing games against teams in the Mass
Bay Youth Lacrosse League on Sunday afternoons with practices 2 to 3 times during the week. There are separate divisions for boys and girls in grades 1-8.
The season will run from April through June with indoor clinics beforehand. Game and practice schedules and times will be announced closer to the
season. The program and league are about the kids. We want them to love lacrosse as much as the coaches do. The guiding philosophy is that good
sportsmanship comes first and all the kids play equally. This program follows the “Brookline Youth Sports Code of Conduct”.
Fee: $100 per student

Description
|
The general objectives of Pop Warner Football/Cheerleading are to inspire youth, regardless of race, creed or national origin, to practice the ideals of
sportsmanship, scholarship and physical fitness, as reflected in the life of the late Glen Scobie “Pop” Warner. Pop Warner strives to make the game “fun”
for all boys and girls. Coaches must constantly keep in mind the ages of the participants. The program stresses learning lessons of value far beyond the
playing or cheering days of the boys and girls involved, such as: self-discipline, teamwork, concentration, friendship, leadership and good sportsmanship.
This is a co-ed tackle football program ages 7-15. The age and weight restrictions for each team have been carefully thought out in a strict matrix that
reduces the risk and reality of injuries. Team assignments will be made during practice sessions in August and early September. By rule, every player
participates in every game. The following matrix describes how players are assigned to teams:
Team E - “Mighty Mites” - 7, 8 or 9 years old and his weight is 45-90 lbs
Team D - “Junior Pee Wees” - 8, 9 and 10 year olds, weights 55-100 lbs
11 year olds 55-80 lbs
Team C - “Pee Wees” - 9, 10, 11 and 12 years old, 70-115 lbs
12 year olds 70-95 lbs
Team B - “Junior Midgets” - 10, 11, and 12 year olds 80-130 lbs
13 year olds 80-110 lbs
Team A - “Midgets” - 11, 12, 13 and 14 year olds, 95-150 lbs
15 year olds 95-130 lbs
As a safety check, the players are weighed-in before each and every game.
Our home field-where we practice and play our home games on Sunday mornings-afternoons in the fall is the Kraft Family Athletic Facility at the Harry
Downes Field.
Pop Warner supplies helmets (safety checked biannually), shoulder pads, game pants (including protective leg pads and girdle pads) and game jerseys.
Families with multiple children in the program will receive a discount. We are in the Merrimac Valley League. The league games are on Sunday. The teams
in our league include Sudbury, Marlboro, Lawrence, Lowell, Chelmsford, Wayland and Concord-Carlisle.
Adults interested in coaching or helping in some other capacity are encouraged to contact us. Even if your player is away until the start of school, and/or is
playing football for the first time, he/she will be able to catch up, learn the plays, and contribute to the team. Each player will participate in every game - its
a league rule.
You can join our program from August 1st thru the first week in September. Practice begins on August 1st at 5:30 p.m. at the Kraft Family Athletic Facility at
the Harry Downes Field in Brookline. We practice Monday through Thursday 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. for the month of August. We practice three times per week
in September and October. Registration is $125 for one child and $185 for 2 children and $200 for 3 or more children.
We want to answer your questions about football.

Brookline Youth Baseball (BYB) offers baseball programs for boys and girls who live in Brookline or attend a Brookline school (public or private). The spring
season, which begins in early April and concludes by the end of the public school year, is open to players from first grade through age 16. All spring games
are played in Brookline on town fields. Summer baseball features competitive travel teams for ages 9-16, as well as casual pick-up games for ages 7-15 at
Brookline fields. From Labor Day through late October, our fall travel teams, for ages 9-18, provide a balance of skill development and competition. And our
Winter Baseball Clinic, held weekly from early December through mid-February, offers indoor instruction for players in grades 6-12. More information
including: specific league and program descriptions; online registration for seasonal programs; and contacts for program volunteers if you have additional
